Sheila Kramer, President, presided. Meeting called to order at 4:15 pm.
Minutes accepted without changes.
Secretary Report — April Kuhlman — No further salary surveys received. Therefore no changes to previous salary survey report.
Treasurer Report — Lisa Hodges - $30,852.06 cash on hand, $22,249.84 conference profit, NPUAP and WOCN - St. Louis share is each $11,124.92.
Communications - Sheila read announcements from the national WOCN available in newsletters and on the WOCN website at www.wocn.org.
Future educational meetings: Gaymar is sponsoring “Advances in Managing Pressure Ulcers” on Wed, February 26, 2003 in Kansas City. It is a free conference. Register by calling 800-828-7321 ext 752 or emailing sratajczak@gaymar.com. Future affiliate meetings: please see agenda—Betsy asked for suggestions for upcoming meetings. Harry’s East in Fairview Heights, IL was suggested.
Marketing Committee Report — Judy Shaffer — Asked for volunteers to re-type and print mailing labels for the mobile wound program. Lyn Kramer volunteered.
UOA Report — UOA schedule given out for 2003. Betsy passed out sign-up sheet for ET Nurses to volunteer to attend meetings. Please note the product fair on Tuesday, May 20th at 7 pm at St. John’s. Please also note nomination forms for ET Nurse of the Year passed out. Additional forms available from Betsy Naeger. The number of referrals for the Visitor Program was 78 up from 43 in 2001. Note that Lisa Hodges made 32 of the referrals.
Other business:
A. Kay Gundy will be precepted by Colleen Cole.
B. Clinical problems - Management of high out-put ileostomies to prevent fluid/electrolyte imbalances. Suggestions included use of Imodium or lomotil, marshmallows, sugar-free Jell-O, white rice, peanut butter, probiotica and alternating solids and liquids. The group was also asked if they knew of any way to decrease protein in TPN to sustain a wound so that dialysis can be discontinued.
C. Website - April announced that her husband plans to discontinue management of the website prior to the end of the year. The website is written in HTML and PERL script. The organization will need to find someone willing to take over this responsibility.
D. Jobs — Coloplast is looking for a rep for this area. Contact Michael Lavelle at 800-788-0293 x 4678 if interested.
E. Local Conference - Call for a volunteer(s) to form a committee to plan local conference in 2003.
F. Bylaws — Copies of other organization bylaws passed out for review with proposed changes for the WOCN-St. Louis affiliate. Group voted to limit local membership to any professional healthcare provider who supports the mission and goals of the WOCN. Discussion followed and it was felt that not enough time is being given to the issue of bylaws. Vote followed to make the discussion of bylaws the priority on the agenda at the next meeting.
