Marketing Plan:
Goals to standardize our professional appearance, to determine a specific color to be associated with the WOCN logo, to integrate knowledge of our specialty through multiple press releases and ad placement in complimentary journals, and to provide the WOCN members with improved documents, which reflect proudly on our organization.
Dear Abby: Many of you read or heard about the "Dear Abby" letter last year from an ostomy patient. The WOCN (and probably the UOA) received over 600 calls requesting more information about our services.
2005 Conference: As a reminder, there will be "expert" sessions this year at conference. Preconference: 1) Review course for WOCN Certification; 2) Pouching the Challenging Patient and Management of Peristomal Hernias, lecture and hands-on; 3) Debridement workshop-assessment/interactive instructions.
Marketing Committee: Judy Schaffer
1) Judy learned of an Advisory Committee meeting in Washington DC, March 29, 2005. Meeting topic: "Standard Treatment of Chronic Wounds" - CMS. If we get more info on this we will pass it on.
2) MLN/WOCN seminar flyers available and distributed at this meeting. This will be an excellent way to market our specialty.
UOA Report:
Yearly donation was made to UOA St. Louis of $500.00 for the Youth camp and Indigent Fund. Thank you!
Reminder- UOA Product Fair is May 2, 2005 at St. John's. Tell your patients and PLEASE attend. Your patients love to see you there.
Business:
WOCN Membership forms available $110- national and $12 - local.
New Products: Posey "Skinsleeves" for fragile skin, especially good for patients at risk for skin tears. Available for arms and legs.
There was also discussion on Convatec's fecal management system "Flexiseal" and on the Blue Sky wound vac system.
