WOCN-St. Louis Affiliate Meeting Minutes
June 7, 2005

Members Present:

Secretary Report:
April minutes approved.

Treasurer Report:
Total $29,513.41

Communications:

  • WOCN National Conference - Sheila Kramer, Janet Knebel, Lyn Kramer, Betsy Naeger, Linda Newberry, Violet Brownell, Marilyn Murphy and Cynthia Fleck attended from our group
  • WOCN has signed with Association Headquarters (AH), Mt. Laurel, NJ, but will remain incorporated in Illinois (effective 6/1/05). The contract with AMC was terminated due to difference of philosophy.
  • WOCN Society will be discussing with CMS the Society's role in assisting CMS with drafting a MDS 314 Tag Guidance Document to help long-term care facilities meet the new requirements. The new CMS guidelines stimulated a lot of discussion at this meeting. There are many issues that are concerns among our membership and how it will effect the work place. Courtney Lyder will be speaking in the St. Louis area, sponsored by Convatec, on this subject. Contact your Convatec rep for more information.
  • WOCN has joined ANA as an organizational affiliate. This is big!
  • As of January 2005, the WOCN has 4,318 members. Let's increase that number!

    Affiliate Meetings:

  • August 2, 2005. Guest speaker is Joyce Black. Hill Rom sponsoring (Linda Geurin) at Olive Garden Restaurant, Manchester and Highway 270. Flyers are in the mail.

    Marketing Committee:

  • MLN: Pressure Ulcer Management (Assessment, Prevention and Treatment); 8 throughout Missouri, Speakers: J. Schaffer, S. Kramer, A. Moyer, C. Heady, Diane Economon; Road Manager: Betsy Naeger, Committee member: J. Bangert. They all volunteered their time and it was definitely worth while.

    UOA Report:

  • Please remember to let your patients know about the UOA of St. Louis. Even though the national organization if folding, our local group is very much alive and more determined to help those undergoing ostomy surgery. Please call Betsy if you have any ostomy visitor requests, 314-725-1888.

    Business:

  • WOCN Membership forms available $110- national and $12. Please call Sheila Kramer for information. 314-251-6449.
