WOCN-St. Louis Affiliate Meeting Minutes
December 6, 2005

  • October minutes approved.

    Treasurer Report:

  • Total: $26,099.15

    Communications:

  • WOCN/NIWI tuition scholarship (Legislative branch of WOCN) for $700 registration. March 12 to 16, 2006 at the Washington Court Hotel in D.C. At the October meeting, it was agreed to furnish lodging and travel expenses to someone in our Affiliate who might be interested in applying for the scholarship. Judy Schaffer is unable to attend. Janet Knebel will look into the details.

    UOA Report:

  • The UOA Holiday Dinner was a huge success with almost 100 in attendance. Charlie Grodavant and members of the Youth Camp were guest speakers.
  • Please remember to let your patients know about the UOA of St. Louis. Even though the national organization has folded, our local group is very much alive and more determined to help those undergoing ostomy surgery. A new national organization has come together; the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc. (UOAA) and can be accessed on the Internet at UOAA.com. They have the same 800 phone number. Please call Betsy if you have any ostomy visitor requests, 314-725-1888.
  • Ostomy Visitor Program will be rescheduled, details to follow.

    Business:

  • A motion was made & approved to give a donation to the St. Louis UOA of $500. A motion was made and approved after discussion to donate $250.00 to the St. Louis CCFA.
  • WOCN Membership forms available: $110 national and $12 local membership. Please call Sheila Kramer for information. 314-251-6449.
  • WOCN Scholarships: St. Louis Affiliate; Dr. Sheri Smith Memorial Grant Info and Applications under Educational Resources and Program/Scholarships, then Education; WOCN Educational Scholarships for Accredited Nursing Education Program; Beverly Hampton Scholarship (MD Anderson WOC Program) www.wocn.org.

    Election of 2006/2007 Officers:

  • Ballots were given to those in attendance. On the ballot were Lisa Hodges for President, April Kuhlman for Secretary and Jackie Bangert for Treasurer. Votes were cast and counted. All were approved. Thank you and congratulations to our new officers!

    Special Note from Secretary:

  • Under the leadership of Sheila Kramer over the past 3 terms we have accomplished so much as a group both for ourselves and for those we serve. Sheila, thank you for all your hard work. We want you to know how much we appreciate you !!
