St. Louis Affiliate WOCN Meeting Minutes
August 1, 2006

Members Present:

Meeting called to order at 4:10 pm by Lisa Hodges, President.
Secretary Report:
April Kuhlman reports due for personal reasons, she was not able to send letter to those on our mailing list about being dropped from mailing list unless at least local dues are paid. Group discussion that we will give those persons until December meeting and after that all non-responders will be dropped from list. Previous minutes approved, motion made by Linda Guerin, seconded by Marcia McGuire, motion carried.
Treasurer Report:
Jackie Bangert reports $15,000 in CD; $8,291.50 in savings; $1,953.25 in checking Total income of $732.00. Total expenditures of $490 which included $150 payment for previous speaker, Kelly McClinton. Kelly previously refused an honorarium but we decided to give her one out of professional courtesy and because her presentation was excellent. Final total of $25,244.75
UOAA Report:
Betsy Naeger. Betsy passed out sign-up sheet to receive subscription cards for Phoenix magazine. Also reminded everyone regarding availability of 1 month of supplies for indigent patients. Contact Betsy to utilize this resource. Betsy also reminded everyone of visitor program. There are currently 29 certified visitors. UOAA sponsored a Youth Camp in San Diego . Those 10-18 are eligible to participate; graduates of the youth camp can become counselors. Furthermore, there is a Young Adult component to the St. Louis UOAA.
Business:
Lisa reported that changes to our contract with the webmaster changed to reflect all submissions for business will be done within 72 business hours or less.
Group discussion regarding whether or not the national organization is doing anything to market the accredited credentials of our members versus CWS and WCC since they do not have the same educational requirements. Members also wanted to know if there is a push for a CWOCN in every hospital and every wound care clinic.
Lisa initiated discussion re our annual Christmas Party. Format will need to be slightly different due to changes in how companies can provide funding for non-educational events. Plan after discussion is to offer an open invitation. Members will be charged a lower fee than non-members. Motion made by Linda Guerin, seconded by Jackie Bangert. Motion carried. Lisa Hodges to investigate an appropriate venue.
Note that Sheila Kramer was recognized in the St. Louis Post Dispatch in relation to bariatric care during the week of 7/25.
