WOCN- St. Louis Affiliate Minutes for October 7, 2008 Meeting

 

Meeting called to order at 1615 by Jackie Bangert, Treasurer

1.      Secretary Report- Linda Newberry, Secretary. Approval of August meetings motion by Carol Schlather and seconded by Linda Guerin. National membership will appear on the national registry after the 10th of every month. Holiday party Tuesday, December 2, at Orlando’s Maryland Hts, MO.

 

2.      Website Update-April Kuhlman, Webmaster, Not present. Report: August 142 visitors with 51 first time visitors and 91 returning visitors, 299 total page loads. September 128 total visitors with 54 first time visitors, and 84 returning visitors, 336 total page leads. There were 147 hits on website for June.  Any postings for website to please send to April Kuhlman @ info4slt.wocn@yahoo.com

 

3.      Treasurer Report-Jackie Bangert, Treasurer, October financial report with cash on hand as of 10/1/08 is $16,477.99 (savings $4,345.50 and checking $2,114.59) Total expenditures of $672.24 with a balance of $22,412.53. Cash on Hand October 2008, CD $18,000 (7 month CD@4%), savings $2,969.78, and Checking $1,442.75 with a total of $22, 412.53.  Motion by Roxy Lupien to approve financial report and seconded by Carol Schlather.

 

4.      UOAA Report- Betsy Naeger. Oct 16th Visitor Training Program, please notify Betsy if interested in attending. There is a $10.00 fee and there is a need of young to middle age urostomy or colostomy volunteers. The Holiday Party will be December 1 @1830 at True Hearts. Membership for the UOAA is $12.00 annually and currently meets on the First Monday of the month with alternating evening and days. C an access UOAA link on WOCN-St. Louis Affiliate Website

 

5.      WOCN positions-Jackie, Bangert, Treasurer. St. Anthony’s is currently has a per diem position open for a one day a week. Anyone interested please notify Roxy Lupien @525-1729 or access St. Anthony’s website. Please contact Marge Groom or April Kuhlman with any employment listings and can be accessed on the WOCN-St. Louis Affiliate Website.         

      

6.      Old Business.

a.       Wound, Ostomy, and Continence National-41st Annual Conference-The Gateway to Knowledge June 6-10, 2009 with call for Abstracts and Oral Presentations. Encouraged members to submit posters or presentations with possible submission of posters by Barnes, St. Anthony’s, and St. Luke’s. National WOCN is sending 150 flyers on “Save the Date” and “Call for Abstracts” to put around in your facilities and as reminder for to do a poster. Pins were handed out that say “St. Louis” for members to wear at conference so out of town guests can ask about places to go and what to do. Please guide them to the visitor’s booth that will probably be located outside the vendors’ room. The National may be asking us to introduce speakers and/or to be room monitors.

b.      Please fill out survey for salary and productivity on web. It should have been sent to you and should take less than five minutes to complete. https://www.iisecure.com/WOCN/Login.asp

c.        NPUAP-EPUAP  “Forge Ahead on Pressure Prevention and Treatment Guidelines” should be done February, 2009. Drawing of stages will be located on the NPUAP website.

d.       Hand out on culturing wounds with AMA and multidisciplinary panel (including WOCN) evidence based w/references.

e.        Scholarship committee- Linda Geurin, No report. Submit any perspective applications to Linda.

f.        Holiday Party committee- Jackie Bangert, Holiday Party, December 2, Tuesday, Orlando’s 2050 Dorsett Village, Maryland Heights, MO 63043, please RSVP by November 21st to Jackie Bangert.  

 

7.      New Business-Jackie Bangert, Treasurer.

a.       Officers-WOCN St. Louis Affiliate upcoming elections discussed with elections August 4, 2009.

b.       Save the dates for the 2009 WOCN St. Louis Affiliate Meetings-First Tuesday of each month with February 3, April 7, June 2, August 4, October 6 and Annual Holiday Party for December 1.

c.        New products, none reported. Discussed Xenaderm vs. Alloderm usage.

d.       Booth at WOCN National Conference in St. Louis discussed along with applications for booth and volunteers. Marketing ideas included Nurseweek magazine, Forest Park forever, and various St. Louis venues.

 

8.      Announcements

a.       Jackie Bangert expressed the need for wound care products for a mission trip to Guatemala. Please contact Jackie Bangert if you have any products that can be donated or if you are interested in volunteering opportunities for Wings of Hope that is currently seeking nursing volunteers for air travel.

 

9.      Adjournment-Motion by Janette Dietzler and seconded by Roxy Lupien. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 1715.
