WOCN- St. Louis Affiliate Minutes for April 7, 2009 Meeting

 

Meeting called to order at 1615 by Marge Groom, President

  1. Secretary Report- Linda Newberry. Approval of February meetings. Motion by Betsy Naeger and seconded by Pat Donald.  National membership will appear on the national registry after the 10th of every month.-2009 Upcoming St. Louis Affiliate Educational Dinner Meetings, February 3,  April 7, June 2, August 4, October 6,Hill ROM, December Holiday Party-December 1

 

B.      Website Update-April Kuhlman, Webmaster, absent. Report: given by Marge Groom, February page loads 393, unique visitors 116, 1st time visitors 51 and returning visitors 65. March page loads were 365, unique visitors 144, 1st time visitors 54 and returning visitors 90. Any postings for website please send to April Kuhlman @ info4stlwocn@yahoo.com

 

C.      Treasurer Report-Jackie Bangert, Treasurer, April 2009 cash on hand was $23,465.42 (CD $18,000, interest income 413.74, and checking $5,1051.68).  Payment made to April Kuhlman for webmaster duties for the sum of $450.00 was made thus a total of $23,015.43.  The CD is currently receiving 2.25% interest on an $18,000 investment and it will mature in 9months. Motion to obtain CD at highest rate by Patricia Donald and second by Betsy Naeger. Discussed room for National WOCN convention @ Drury @ $139.49 night with room located on 2nd floor and hotel will be given names of members for access and usage.

 

D.      UOAA Report-Betsy Naeger UOAA Report-Betsy Naeger. The annual Product Fair is scheduled for May 4, 2009 at 7PM at St John’s Mercy in the VonGontard Conference Center with Speaker John O’Leary. Please see Betsy Naeger for raffle tickets. Raffles will include a gift certificate for a Bed and Breakfast and 2 hand made quilts.   Attendance is encouraged. Membership for the UOAA is $12.00 annually and currently meets on the First Monday of the month with alternating evening and days. E.       WOCN positions- Convatec currently interviewing sales positions for negative pressure therapy, Full-time CWOCN position is available @DePaul and  an opening with KCI for their Wound VAC division. Please contact Marge Groom or April Kuhlman with any employment listings and these listings can be accessed on the WOCN-St. Louis Affiliate Website.   

 

F.       New Members/Guests- Josett Franke was attending representing St. Anthony’s WCC.

1.      Old Business.

a.       Scholarship committee- Linda Geurin absent.  Report given by Marge Groom. Please contact  Linda Guerin for  requests for applications for scholarships. Her contact information to request a scholarship application is email:  LFG1804@aol.com or Linda Geurin@ssmhc.com.

b.       Holiday Party committee- Jackie Bangert no report.

c.        Wound, Ostomy, and Continence National-41st Annual Conference-The Gateway to Knowledge June 6-10, 2009.  Marge Groom reported. Please lobby for  patient supplies and NPWT. WOCN is working to develop a legislation and platform for public policy and questioned what each of the regions and affiliates are doing at the grassroots level along if there is and existing public policy committee within our region/affiliate. WOCN need to determine where our synergies may be best focused and how to best utilize our resources.

d.       Officers- WOCN St. Louis Affiliate upcoming elections August 4, 2009. Nominating committee includes Betsy Naeger, Linda Stamm and Marge Groom. If interested in any of these positions please notify and individual from the nominating committee. Positions open will be President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

e.        Conference ribbons-Discussed St. Louis bags, ribbons, and stick pins with arch. Marsha McGuire explained custom ribbon that is available and would be 1 ¼ in wide, 12 inches long on blue with silver print with the cost of $42.00 roll with a one time set-up fee of $75.00. The ribbon would had have WOCN imprinted on one strip and St. Louis imprinted on the other strip. Motion to approve ribbons to signify St. Louis Affiliate WOCN members by Pat McDonald and seconded by Linda Newberry with Marsha McGuire to obtain with availability at next meeting to distribute to members.

f.        Discussion of marketing St. Louis Affiliate WOCN @ National  -Discussed as above to wear ribbons with pins that have arch that was previously given out at WOCN meeting to signify St. Louis WOCN affiliate.

g.        Undy 5000 Run/Walk that was held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Forest Park with 4 individuals from UOAA attended. It was sponsored by the Colon Cancer Alliance to raise awareness of Colon Cancer.

 

2.      New Business-Marge Groom, President

 

a.       News for WOCNews on quarterly basis Pat McDonald has volunteered to submit to WOCNews on a quarterly basis for our St. Louis Affiliate with obtainment of further information or details from Marge Groom.

b.       National Registrations for Conference with volunteers for room monitors was discussed. That there is a place on the WOCN registration form to volunteer as a room monitor with a training session on Saturday June 6.

c.        National Dues-Do not forget to pay your national WOCN dues and can also be renewed with your WOCN Conference Registration Form.

        

3.      Announcements: New product of Aquacel AG with string from Convatec was discussed
